Here you will find all the existing editions of primary sources related to Istrian Middle Ages, from the era of Justinian's Eastern Roman Empire, all the way to the first decades of the sixteenth century.

Before browsing the database, users are advised to check the editorial principles explaining the layout of the entries and the rules of transcriptions.

Consult the sources by browsing through the six volumes, each covering a specific historical era in the context of the history of Istria.

The first two volumes, covering the period from the Late Antiquity to the year 1077, are currently being edited. Their planned date of completion is the end of 2021.

The Studies section offers a selection of seminal publications on medieval Istria divided according to the six eras mentioned above. The essays are meant to introduce the researchers to the crucial historical structures and processes characteristic of the respective eras of Istrian history.

The Offprints section features the editions of primary sources that are available for direct download in pdf format. These editions are all indexed in the FIM database, but in this section they are grouped together in a coherent section and edited with introductory studies. Currently, the Offprints section features the editions of the medieval statutes of Istrian communes published in the Kolana od statuti / Collana degli statuti series.

The Multimedia section illustrates aspects of Istrian history through digital tools such as interactive historical maps and timelines.

Finally, a comprehensive search function is forthcoming that will allow the users to browse the entire database by searching for keywords, phrases, toponyms or historical figures.
