Editor's Notes

The confirmation of the Aquileian Chapter was a mandatory step in the ratification of all "international treaties" concluded by the patriarchs of Aquileia. This specific case refers to the deal signed on September 18, 1304, whereby Venice and Patriarch Ottobono agreed to resubmit the matter of Istrian jurisdictions to the arbitration of the newly created pope, immediately upon his official consecration (doc. 1304_VP1).
