Istria through the Medieval Centuries: An Interactive Map
The evolution of the jurisdictional map of medieval Istria, from the 12th to the 16th century, is rendered in this interactive timeline. Note that the jurisdictional borders were unclear even in the Middle Ages; the borders inscribed in these maps are thus necessarily tentatively conjectural, but they do paint a generalized jurisdictional map of medieval Istria based on the contents of primary sources.
