Volume 1: A seculo VI usque ad 803 [edition currently in progress and available only in English language; expected completion date: end of 2023]
This volume covers the period of Late Antiquity and the Early Middle Ages in Istria. It begins with the material from Cassiodorus' Variae from the period of King Theodoric and ends with the advent of the Carolingian Empire at the beginning of the 9th century.
Volume 2: A 804 usque ad 1077 [edition currently in progress and available only in English language; expected completion date: end of 2024]
The volume dedicated to the period between the famous Plea of Rižana of 804 and 1077, covering the age of the Carolingian and post-Carolingian Empire, the era of Saxon and Salian emperors from Otto the Great to Henry IV, up to the year when the County of Istria is donated to the Patriarchate of Aquileia.
Volume 3: A 1077 usque ad 1209 [edition planned for 2024-2025]
The volume covering the period of lay margraves of Istria, from Henry Eppenstein (1079), to Burchard of Moosburg (1093, contested by Poppo III of Weimar-Orlamünde), to the House of Spanheim (1107) and the House of Andechs-Merania (1171).
Volume 4: A 1209 usque ad 1300 [edition planned for 2025-2027]
The volume covers the period beginning with the imperial donation of the entire Margraviate of Istria to the Patriarchate of Aquileia in 1209 up to the signing of the first treaty officially recognizing Venetian dominion over the nine Istrian urban communes: Koper, Izola, Piran, Umag, Novigrad, Motovun, Poreč, Sv. Lovreč and Rovinj (Capodistria, Isola, Pirano, Umago, Cittanova, Montona, Parenzo, San Lorenzo and Rovigno).
Volume 5: A 1300 usque ad 1421 [edition planned for 2027-2030]
The volume covering the age of the Istrian triplex confinium that saw the peninsula divided between the Venetian, Aquileian and Gorizian (from 1374 Austrian) territories. It ends with the final Venetian takeover of the entire Patriarchate of Aquileia and the dissolution of the Margraviate of Istria.
Volume 6: A 1421 usque ad 1535 [edition planned after 2030]
The volume covering the period of the consolidation of Venetian dominion and the wars between Venice and the Habsburgs. It resulted in the final Venetian expansion on the Istrian peninsula and the official demarcation between the Venetian and Austrian territories in Istria (1535).
